Tribulation. (2000)

Tom Canboro is a police detective with a Christian sister, Eileen, a brother, Calvin, a wife, Susan, and eccentric brother-in-law, Jason. One night, Jason seemingly goes insane and tries to kill Eileen, calling her a "hater". Tom soon realizes this may be a conspiracy going as far as devil worship, but as he speeds in his car to get help, he suddenly loses control and crashes. Waking up in a strange hospital, he finds years have passed and people all over the world are wearing the mark of 666 on their right hands, and all those who don't are being killed off. Franco Macalusso, the believer in world peace Jason was fond of, now controls the world, and is trying to bring the world together as it was at the tower of Babel. Meanwhile, the "Haters" or Christians are hiding out and airing TBN tapes on the air for people to realize the Messiah is really the Antichrist, but their leader, Helen Hannah, is arrested...

The Night Before. (2015)

Directed by Jonathan Levine, The Night Before follows three friends (Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Ethan, Seth Rogen’s Isaac, and Anthony Mackie’s Chris) as they head out for an evening of total debauchery on Christmas Eve – with the trio encountering a whole host of oddball figures and comedically-tinged scenarios along the way. Filmmaker Levine, working from a script written with Kyle Hunter, Ariel Shaffir, and Evan Goldberg, delivers an entertaining yet increasingly erratic comedy that benefits rather substantially from the engaging, charismatic work of its stars, and it’s clear, too, that the movie’s watchable atmosphere is heightened by an ongoing emphasis on laugh-out-loud bits of over-the-top silliness – with the most obvious example of this everything involving Isaac’s drug-fueled antics (ie it’s as uproarious and hilarious as one might’ve hoped). It’s clear, then, that The Night Before‘s overall impact is hampered and diminished by a padded-out third act that’s far too sentimental for its own good, as Levine aggressively attempts to tug at the viewer’s heartstrings to a degree that ultimately becomes a little oppressive – which does, in the end, ensure that the picture concludes on a disappointingly (and distressingly) anticlimactic note. Still, The Night Before is, for much of its running time, a decent-enough holiday comedy that admittedly does manage to put an innovative spin on a well-worn genre.

90 Minutes in Heaven. (2015)

A powerful true-life story of faith, hope, and survival has been turned into a didactic, painful slog in “90 Minutes in Heaven.” Based on the 2004 best-selling book by Don Piper and Cecil Murphey, the film chronicles Baptist minister Piper’s 1989 car wreck and his torturous road to recovery with the help of family and friends.
The twist in Piper’s tale: He was pronounced dead by rescue workers at the accident scene only to awake 90 minutes later. During that period, Piper says, he visited heaven, in all its traditional glory. Despite this wondrous experience, Piper goes through tremendous soul-searching before he understands its meaning and can share what he felt with others.
Intriguing and inspiring as Piper’s journey may be, the movie comes off as if director Michael Polish (“The Astronaut Farmer,” “Big Sur”) felt a slavish duty — or perhaps there was a mandate — to adhere to Pastor Don and his family’s every move and thought. To wit, the excessive voiceovers often sound more like sermons than movie dialogue.

Persecuted. (2014)

Nationally acclaimed evangelist John Luther is the last obstacle in the way of sweeping religious reform in the States. When a U.S. Senator and Luther's own supporters abduct and frame him in the murder of an innocent teenage girl, an unprecedented era of persecution is unleashed. Out on personal recognizance, Luther escapes police surveillance in search of the truth. And suddenly a once-normal life is targeted by a team of ex-military operatives who wage a relentless campaign to eliminate the incriminating evidence. As evangelist turned fugitive, Luther vows to expose anyone involved with, or profiting from, the girl's murder. It's a mission that brings him face-to-face with the coming storm of persecution that will threaten the entire American Christian community.

However, that proves impossible as he is confronted with a troubling variety of spiritual challenges from both his estranged daughter and his own parishioners.
