Taoism is an ancient tradition of philosophy and religious belief that is deeply rooted in Chinese customs and world outlook.
Taoism, that was originated in China and though many people do not know this they frequently have an concept of its varied elements.
The Yin and Yang symbol, also related to as the Tai Chi disk, is declared as everything consisting of a balance, it forms reality. This is the main topic of Taoism.

The root of Tao is defined as the way of the universe, nature, balance, it is a reality that can not be jammed in language, or thought. The goal of life is to conform human lives in the way of the universe.
Taoism, unlike other religious traditions has not even a single origin, like other religions. There are two main sources for Taoism:
- The philosophers of the Civil War period, who followed a Tao or way of nature instead of following the Tao of society.
- The shamans and magicians who, since the Shang Dynasty played a significant role in the life of the ordinary Chinese population.

Taoism has spread across the globe, and at the present time there are over 31 million followers. In Taiwan it remains a conspicuous philosophy and has recently moved west into the United States where we see the symbol of yin and yang, the mainstreaming of Feng-Shui, and the ever growing art of Thai-chi.

Without the existence of Taoism, Chinese history would have been altered significantly and in turn so would have the history of the world.
