Sikhism was founded in 15th century based on protesting against caste system of Hinduism and against Muslim rulers of the Mughal Empire. Both these religions had influence on Sikhism. All history of Sikhs was full of battles against Mughals, Afghanis and British. As the result, the Sikh’s independent state Penjab which was established in 18th century, to the middle of 19th century was joined to the British Empire.

However, Sikhs saved their religion. They believe in God, which is the one, however, he has two sides – one is Nirgun (absolute God) and other is Sargun (God insde of everybody). Previously Nirgun existed as his own. When he decided to express his individuality through the Name, then he created Nature and became everywhere in it. God wasn’t created by somebody or wasn’t born, and he doesn’t reborn – he is everywhere, and exists like vital idea, beauty, morality, truth and faith. Sikhs have to worship only to God through meditation and singing the pray, no any other deities of spirits can’t be worshiped.

Sikhs accept idea of reincarnation, however, they believe that except previous karma person can have free will and responsibility for own actions. Sikhs consider the concepts of heaven, hell, sins, ascetic as the trial to manipulate of one people over others and reject it. According to Sikhism, the worst sin is to manipulate and to compel others to do anything with the purposes of benefits in present or future life as well as violence. Sincere wish to do good things is natural, and it arises as the gift from God, which anybody can open inside. Evil, greediness, hatred are against the Nature, and it is not beneficial for people to do them from its resistance.

Anybody can become Sikh - no matter of sex, nationality or origin. The religious washing, or amrit, has to be taken for that. After that, every Sikh has to keep 5 things (the rule of 5K), such as “kesh” - hairs without cutting hidden under turban, “kangha” – special comb to hold the hairs, “kara” – steel bracelet, “kachh” – special model of pants, “kirpan” – short knife or sword hidden under cloths. Sikhs don’t care about ritual matters or ceremonies much, however, use it to join people together, to help each other and to learn the religious texts.

As for me, Sikhs can be easily distinguished by their specific outfit as turban, however, this religion seems to me still exotic and difficult to understand. If anybody knows more about Sikhism, I will appreciate your help with the information and explanation.

What an interesting religion. It's so great to get information about new things.
But seems to my this religion is too exotic and local.
And why do they pay so much attention to their hair?

Sikhism about soul and reincarnation:
A man does not begin his life from the empty place. He existed already before his birth. His past existence, his family, where he grew up, and his people determine his individuality. But, besides, he is given his own will, and he is responsible for all his acts. He could change his character only with the help of his will and to neutralize his past. God gives us power and energy, but he does not make us free from the responsibility.
Inside every person there is a boundless depth, and we are able to see our own sins and our own ignorance in that light, which we are looking for inside of us.
Consciousness of our own”I” it is the lowest level of realization yourself as a person. Widening our consciousness we accept the others as a part of ourselves. We rise to our own “I”, to the level of our family, than to the level of our society, than to the level of our nature, and then to the level of God. Sikh is not an ascetic, he chooses the golden middle.
As we do not have to manipulate with people, we do not have to manipulate with the nature and natural sources. The scientists are fond of it and then they create illusions. What is the medicine from the illnesses? Only the thing, that increases the immunity, increase the inner resistibility and the will of the sick.
The hatred of those who are near to us is most violent.
Publius Cornelius Tacitus
