Holistic medicine is considered to be a system of health care which encourages a collectiv relationship among all those engaged in it, directing towards optimal achievement of the physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual sides of health.

Holistic medicine practicians believe that the whole person is made up of interdependent sections and if one part is not really working, the other parts will be touched. This way, if people have physical, emotional, or spiritual instability, it can might have a negative impact towards health.

There are some principles of Holistic Medicine:

1. All people have inborn curing powers.
2. The patient is a person, not the sicknes itself.
3. The cure might take a team slant, including the patient and doctor, and convert all aspects of a person's life using a variety of health care experiments.
4. Treatment involves "repairing" the cause of the position, not just lighten the symptoms.

There are following types of treatments known:

teaching patients how to change their lifestyle and self-care, as well as to promote wellness. It might involve diets, exercises, psychotherapist consulting and much more.
Additional and alternative therapies such as acupuncture, chiropractic care, homeopathy, massage therapy, naturopathy, and other.
Western medications and surgical ways.

If you want to find a serious holistic holistic provider, you should be aware of not being cheated, because it happens to find those who are not really professional.
Don't go to just anyone. You will surely find those who are good at their jobs and those who are not as good. Before choosing a holistic medicine doctor, get a recommendation from someone you trust, or contact a credible health organization and ask for a recommendation.

Holistic providers may include medical doctors, doctors of osteopathy, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, and homeopathic doctors. To find an online holistic practitioner, you can also visit search engines and search for the online Holistic Medical Association web site.

Holistic Medicine is defined by the Canadian Holistic Medical Association as follows:
„Holistic medicine is a system of health care which fosters a cooperative relationship among all those involved, leading towards optimal attainment of the physical, mental emotional, social and spiritual aspects of health“.

It emphasizes the need to look at the whole person, it analyses physical, nutritional, environmental, emotional, social, spiritual and lifestyle values. It uses all stated models of diagnosis and treatment including drugs and surgery if no safe alternative exists. Holistic medicine focuses on self-learning and responsibility for one’s efforts to achieve balance and well-being.
The concept of “holism” and “holistic” take its origin from the Greek word “holon” which means “wholeness”, “integrity” . Thus, according to concept of holism the surrounding world and all living things are single entity.
Holism was popular in teachings of European philosophers from ancient times to the middle of the XVII century. Later with the development of science, which referred holism as only a philosophical concept that had no practical value, holism lost its significance.

Greater interest to the ideas of holism was revived in the XX century. South African politician and philosopher Jan Smuts becomes a founder of modern holistic approach. According to the concept described in his book “Holism and Evolution” (1926), holism combines both idealistic and material bases. It symbolizes the principle of integrity, where the part is subordinated to the whole. An important quality of the soul is to make a personality a whole one and affect its individual parts.
In early 90s of XX century, first in the U.S. and then in Europe holistic medicine became widespread as an alternative medicine within the traditional medical practices.
