Most religions teach that after death, a soul within us leaves the body and lives on for ever. Most of us assume it is also a biblical belief, but is it? What exactly is the history of this idea?

People were always asking themselves and worried about what will happen when the life is over, what will happen after death? Many contemporary religions teach that we have other lifes after this one, but archaeologists tell us that even ancient Neanderthals immersed their loved ones with grave goods for the afterlife. We also know about gypsies, that they bury their loved ones with lots of gold and very expensive goods. They believe that the next life they will spend in prosperity.

Our days most of those who is religious believes in an immortal soul that lives on in after death. It is a shared tuition of Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Bahá’í, as well as of native and brood religions throughout Africa, the Americas and elsewhere.

Some say that after death our soul will live forever in either a heaven or a hell. Others assume that the soul will take other life forms in a cycle of reincarnation that never ends. Most atheists, of course, reject the idea of a soul, being convinced that after death there is nothing.

But where did these ideas come from? Alan F. Segal, professor of Jewish studies, wrote; 'Each religion’s views of the rewards and punishments of the afterlife reflect the particular values and aspirations of that culture in this life.' For example, he said, most Americans in the 21st century, Christian or not, believe that their soul is immortal by nature and that most if not all will be saved, because this idea of self-realization fits with American accomplishments.

This inspire that the concept of immortality is a purely human apprehension. Because understanding of life after death runs the diapason of human experience and cultural values, anthropologists came to the conclusion that man mad relie up religion and religious beliefs on an as-needed basis to explain life’s experiences and to offer consolation from life’s difficulties and disorders.

People who believes in God owe it to themselves to know whether the idea of an immortal soul occurs from the human mind and if it has a biblical reason.

I think for us common people it is really not known what will happen to any particular soul after a body dies. Only God knows these things, and we can only make suggestions. Perhaps some of them can reflect some of the truth we can not tell for sure. But what will happen to your soul definitely depends on the life you have now. I don’t think that a life one lives, the things one does, all the sufferings we endure, and other things in this life we come across will mean nothing when we die. There is always a sense in all the things, and people tend to look for it all the time. So it is weird when people say that all things are in vain and there is nothing. Why then do you live why do you do something if there is nothing? It makes no sense! Since the beginning of time people believed that soul will not die with the body. The tombs of ancient Egyptians demonstrate that they believed one day a person who had died will get back to life and will need all the things he or she used in this life. Spiritual life and earthly life of course are different, and the things that are important in this life will not matter when you die. But it will matter for salvation of the soul if you believed in God and judgement day, the bad and good things you had done, if you ever repented the wrongdoings and asked forgiveness.

As for me soul exists in every religion because having it is the only chance to live forever. People always knew that our physical body cannot live forever. We are just flash. But our soul that is what separates us from other beings.
Because of it religion can't be separated from soul.
Фnd I think that majority of people believe that soul exists. We can have different opinion what is waiting for our soul after death. There are different options in different religions: paradise, hell, reincarnation. travelling to another universe, but we all agree that this invisible intangible substance exists.

Yes our bodies will die just like everything of this world, but our souls are expected to give answers for what we have done while we were alive, what life we had. Very often people are viewed in the modern society just by their outside appearance. Many people look at the others and think that if a person is good looking, well dressed, rich etc., then he or she is the kind of person to be associated with. But it is just like a packaging, and what is inside? For some reason nobody actually cares about it! And what is it there except your physical appearance nothing else? Unfortunately it happens very often when a person appearing to look good and happy and pretty has a terrible soul under all this, and nobody notices it. Well maybe for a while. Then if you get to know a person better you can see everything, all the character that was hidden before. And what about the crimes and other bad stuff people commit? Very often when those close people to them learn about it they become surprised, because this person always looked good outward, and inside in their soul obviously there was a problem. Everything bad starts inside our souls and hearts, and then if unmanaged and unchanged comes outside sooner or later. It is a slow process, it doesn’t happen overnight. That’s why it is necessary to guard and take care of our souls. We feed our physical bodies but forget about spiritual nourishment for our souls. And it can be bad for our life in this world and in the hereafter.
Love and be loved!

What is or soul? It is our thoughts, our hopes, and our inspiration. Our soul is everything; it is the entire life of us in this world. We do not have a possibility to live without our soul. We are consisting only of our soul and body. Body is for a while, but our soul is forever. Just interesting where does our soul go after the death? Does it really go to God? Or it is just reincarnated and continues its way on the Earth or on the other planet? Where from can we know about it? Where from can we get an answer? From nowhere... that is a pity. We want to know the things that are hidden from our eyes. Maybe, it is not just so simple. Maybe, everything is already known, but not by us, maybe everything is already calculated, but also not by us. So by whom? Who has the power, which is endless? I suppose, you know the answer. Only God could solve where, who and why. And we do not have to know the answers on some questions. Some themes should be closed for people. Because our minds are so simple still, that we do not need the information that we do not understand. That is why these questions will be the same for us for more times. People are trying to understand all the secrets. But they understand that there will be no nature, no Universe if there were no secrets. We can just imagine what could happen to our soul. Great, that we already know what is the soul. And the scientists have proved even the weight of our soul. After man`s death with all measurements done as it should be, the scientists cannot understand where are more 9 gr. And the decision was made that our soul is only 9 gram in its weight. It is so wonderful. It means we are so light! We even do not understand, how cozy is should be for our souls to be so light. I wonder what will be if our bodies were also so light? Would it be easier for us to move around? And why our bodies are so hard while our souls are so light? Where is the logic? Does anybody have some idea?
The hatred of those who are near to us is most violent.

Everyone knows that the body dies, it always has to be supported, and therefore can not be immortal. But the Scriptures speak of the soul. Is it possible that the soul was immortal? Or God created the soul could not destroy it?

Brain tells us that the life of every creature subjected to the will of the Creator, as if had certainly proved the opposite. Now note that Scripture never speaks of the immortality of the soul, as some try to suggest and then either in translation or in the original text. Take any concordance and try to find the expression "immortal soul" and will soon see that the expression in the Scriptures there. On the contrary, the Scripture says that God "is able both soul and body to destroy in hell ..." and "the soul that sins, it shall die."

What may die, which can be destroyed, not immortal, not proof against death, destruction. So, here quoted text of Scripture does not prove the immortality of the soul or body.

Erroneous understanding of the subject

What is a soul? The general concept of the soul defines it as something vague that we are but only a few are trying to find out what it is and where it is located. Some argue that this is something hidden reality, rational being, while the body is just an instrument or her home. A Methodist bishop once defined life as follows: "It is neither inside nor looks, no body parts or shapes, and a million souls can fit in a nut shell." You can say it's good definition of nothing.

The body is not the soul, as some claim. Jesus proved this when he says that God "is able both soul and body to destroy in gehenna ..." In light of this, if we deliver our minds from prejudice, we must be able to learn something more in this respect, investigating inspired the creation of description person. As was established human soul

Referring to Booth. 2:7, we read: "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground. And breathing [Gebr. the wind force] life [Gebr. life set, it means that life as such was common to all living creatures] breathed [Gebr. blow] in his nostrils - and the man became a living soul [ie, sensitive creature]. "

This description shows that the first body was created, but before it was animated, it was not a human soul or creature. This body had eyes but saw nothing, ears but do not hear, a mouth, but did not say anything, tongue, but did not feel the taste, nose, but did not know the smell, the heart that has not throbbed, the blood that was cold, deprived of life, lungs are not working. It was not a man, but dead, lifeless body.

The second step in the creation of man was the empowerment inherent vitality "formed" and from every point of view of cooked flesh. This is described with the words: "And the breath of life breathed into his nostrils." If a healthy person drowned and her life was paused in their functions, the return to consciousness is through these motions with his hands to make light work as the wallet to gradually establishes nose breathing. If Adam is obviously not require any time-consuming effort on the part of the Creator, who made sure to perfect, he created a body began to breathe life-giving oxygen atmosphere.

When animating got air to the lungs, there was expansion of particles of blood and it got to the heart, and this body in turn sold them to every part of the body, awakening all cooked nerves that until then did not respond to the energy and feeling. At one point, the energy reached the brain, opening the process of thinking, observing, understanding, sight, touch, feeling the taste, hearing and smell. What was lifeless human body, it was a man, a sensitive creature has reached a state of "living soul", which recalls the text. In other words, the term "living soul" means neither more nor less than just "being sensitive", ie being able to feel, observe and think.

Moreover, while Adam had a perfect body, maintaining life, soul or sensitive beings through the consumption of fruit trees of life for him was necessary. When did sin, God banished him from the Garden, "lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree [set with trees or gardens] of life, and eat, - and live for ever: [that is constantly consuming them] "(Genesis 3:22). Oh, sprayed mist and mystery in the light of truth, which has from the Word of God!
