To my mind people don't become less religious nowadays.
Yes, especially in ex USSR countries, people go to the church every Sunday and holidays. They don't work at these days.
It testifies to the fact that they are more religious.
To make some worse, in the USA people work despite on religion's holidays etc. God said: "devote me 1 day"

I can't agree that people are less religious nowadays.
On the contrary now people have more choices and ways to obtain knowledge, and make wisdom religious choice.
People have opportunities to read different religious books and articles, to listen to audio or video records of religious leaders and to visit importation and spiritual places. So belief nowadays is more thought-out, meaningful, deep and it's chosen not because of outside influence, but because of internal, spiritual decision.

People have much more time, they don't have to work 12 hours per day as it was before. They have access to waste amount of knowledge. They can visit libraries, watch TV, buy any book they want and Internet, there you can any information you want. The only main thing is wish to receive knowledge.
But even 100-150 years before what knowledge could poor farmer get? He was working form from dawn to dusk, and he was visiting church on Sundays. And the only information he could get in the local church. And we can tell the same about a carpenter, a miner, a journeyman etc. About all people who were not reach. How could they get additional information about religion? They believed in what they were told to believe. I don't think it was conscious choice. And now people have so many opportunities to find their true faith and believe purely from the soul.
